Tyson also loves playing tennis. Tyson started playing tennis four years ago with his dad
for recreational enjoyment. Tyson entered the South Fork Classic Tennis Tournament in
July 1994 and won first place in the under 14 division. Tyson has played on the FUHS tennis
team in his Freshman year, and in his Sophomore year he was seeded No.1. This summer Tyson
competed at the Eureka Indoor Tennis Club and placed second in the tournament.
Tyson has also played in the marching band and the symphonic band for the last three years.
Tyson plays the quad-toms during marching band and all percussion instruments during
symphonic band.
Tyson was the Student Body President in his eighth grade year at Rio Dell Elementary School
and received the Chamber of Commerce Award at his eighth grade graduation. Tyson's high
school GPA has been 3.4 for his Freshman and Sophomore years. Tyson hopes to go to a four
year University, and would like to become a teacher.
Tyson would like to thank Coach Dimmick for helping him in elementary school. The
encouragement and support will sustain him throughout his life. Tyson would also like to
thank his parents for inspiring him to do well in school and life.
For future basketball players, work hard in the off season, because basketball players are
made in the off season. As a wise man once said, "Perfect practice makes perfect."
Tyson has been a sports encyclopedia since he was a little kid. Tyson started playing
competitive basketball in the fifth grade at Rio Dell Elementary School. He earned All
Tournament Award at the Eel River Valley Basketball Tournament in 1994. Tyson has played on
the Fortuna High School Freshman and Junior Varsity Basketball teams. Tyson played on the
Fortuna Parks and Rec. summer league basketball team this last summer and he is really
looking forward to playing Varsity Basketball this year.
