Shannon also played on the Scotia/Rio Dell Little League baseball team and broke a record by
scoring 16 home runs in one season. That year he was selected to the "All Star" team.
Shannon also has a couple of other interesting accomplishments. During his 8th grade year,
he and a team mate, Aaron Elam, were awarded $500 scholarships at the Crescent City Annual
Basketball Tournament. Shannon also holds one other record that will stand for some time to
come. While he was still in the 8th grade, Shannon participated in the annual Interschool
Council's 24 Hour Relay. After running off and on for 22 hours, he found himself with 2
hours left and only needing 9 miles to beat a record 30 miles. Shannon, with some
encouragement from his brother, had beaten the record with minutes to spare. Shannon ran a
total of 31 miles in 24 hours.
When Shannon has free time he can be found at Empire Lanes in Fortuna. He loves to bowl and
play pool, and is very good at both. Shannon's father, Steve Parker, Sr., has helped him
fine tune his bowling skills. Most evenings you can find Shannon at home doing homework and
talking to his dad, when he returns from work.
In school, Shannon has his likes and dislikes, but his favorite class in Spanish. One
reason is because it brings a challenge and he loves challenges, plus its always good to
know a different language.
Only being a junior, Shannon really hasn't decided on a college or a course to major in. He
would like to attend a college that has a good basketball program. Shannon would like to
thank his family and his grandparents for their love and support.
Shannon started to play basketball almost as soon as he learned to walk. He would play
basketball with his older brother, Steven. They helped each other to improve their skills.
Shannon started organized basketball as a junior varsity player at Cuddeback while he was in
the 4th grade. He moved to the varsity level in the 7th grade.
