Nathan started school sports at Scotia Elementary. There he played Volleyball, Baseball, Basketball and Softball and he excelled at all of them. He started playing basketball for the Scotia gym team in the 3rd grade. Nathan continued playing for the gym team and the grammar school thru eight grade. In Nathan's eight grade year he was selected MVP for his basketball team. He was also selected for several All-tournament teams. During this time he was excelling at baseball, where he was selected to the "All Stars" every year he was eligible. Nathan has managed to keep a 3.5 grade point all through grammar school and is keeping a 3.0 or better at Fortuna High School while taking college prep courses. At thirteen years old Nathan pitched for the 13 year old "All Stars" and the 15 year old regular team winning most of his games in both divisions. He also has led or tied for "best batting average" on most of the teams he has played for. Nathan has pitched or played shortstop for the Fortuna 76ers, when he was only 15 years old, winning all his games and leading the team in batting average in al the games he played. Nathan was also selected Most Valuable Player for the freshman and sophomore basketball teams. He has learned, when you play basketball for Fortuna it is Defense, Defense, Defense. Playing soccer this past four years has led to Nathan's "All County" Star, being a starting right wing for the three Championship Fortuna soccer teams, and second leading scorer. Nathan again has shown his baseball abilities last spring during baseball by earning an "Honorable Mention" in the All County selections. Playing three sports, maintaining his grades, working as a maintenance engineer at Scotia Elementary school during the summer and playing for the 76ers baseball team keeps him busy. At age 11 Nathan played golf during the summer, where he won the Redwood Empire gold trophy for his age division. He also won the Dean Creek annual ping-pong championship, which he still laughs about. Nathan would like to thank all the coaches who helped him along the way.
Nathan's future plans include attending a four year college with a strong baseball program, but he is still not sure of his major. He also hopes to have a good season in basketball, and feels they have a chance to take it all.
When Nathan isn't playing sports he enjoys snow skiing at Mt. Bachelor over Easter and water skiing at Ruth Lake during the summer. Nathan has started helping officiate youth soccer, to help give something back to the community and coaches that have helped him. He is active in youth camps and keeps score for youth basketball programs at the Scotia gym.
