Sydny Williams

JUNIOR

Sydny has been involved in many sports, such as motor cross, tennis and basketball.  His favorite would have to be basketball.  Sydny has been playing since the first grade, but on a team until the sixth grade.  During his sixth grade year his team won the league tournament.  In his seventh grade year his team won the league and the league tournament. While in his eight-grade year his team won four consecutive tournaments in which Sydny received two MVP awards and three All-Tournament selections.

After arriving at Fortuna high School Sydny continued his basketball.  During his freshman year he was selected All-Tournament at the St. Bernard Freshman Tournament.  Sydny’s team won the St. Bernard and College of the Redwoods Tournament that year.  Sydny was named “All Hustle” during his Freshman Year.  During Sydny’s sophomore year he played on the Junior Varsity team.  Half way into the season an injury forced Sydny to sit out the rest of the season.  After recovering from his injury, Sydney decided to play tennis.  Sydny being a first year tennis player improved his skills dramatically from his first practice to the end of the season

Academically, Sydny has maintained an overall GPA of 3.4 or better.  He plans on attending a four-year university earning a degree in engineering.

Sydny’s advice on playing basketball is “always be prepared for anything and never underestimate your opponents because you never know what could happen.”
