Coach Tim Strahan

Assistant Coach

Former Arcata High School All-County Basketball player in 1968, Tim has been coaching basketball off and on at the elementary and secondary level as time permits since 1970. His first coaching experience was at St. Mary's in Arcata, coaching 5th grade boys. It was an experience, which he won't forget!

   
Currently Tim is a "walk-on" coach with a primary mission of working with the inside players. He has done this at Fortuna High School for several years. Tim is working with Coach Scott during Scotts second year as the Varsity coach.

  “I am really looking forward to working with Coach Scott this season.  We are going to change a few things around this season, should be interesting.  Coach Scott has one of the best coaching records in the league and I feel honored that he asked me to remain on his staff."

  My son Douglas and my daughter Stephanie both played basketball at Fortuna.  Doug is a Captain in the Marine Corps.  He is a pilot and currently assigned to Marimar in southern California flying the CH-53E helicopter. (That is the really big one)  Stephanie is currently coaching volleyball and basketball,  while attending school and working and being the pride and joy of her father.

Coach Strahan is married to Debra Strahan one of two counselors at Fortuna High School.   Tim also created the Fortuna High School Basketball website several years ago.  The site  has visitors from 46 different countries and has a large number of visitors from the military domains.  Each year we receive messages from foreign high school age students asking about Fortuna High School and the basketball program. 

“I will also be devoting time to the Fortuna High School Basketball website again.  I will try to update the site as time permits.  The school still has not found the assets to take over the site.”
