Coach Kathryn Dunlap

Post Player Coach Women's Basketball

While Kathryn Dunlap is new to the Fortuna High School coaching staff, she is certainly not new to Fortuna High School.  Kathryn is a graduate of Fortuna High School, currently attending Humboldt State University, and just beginning her coaching career.

Kathryn’s parents are Jim and Liz Dunlap of Swains Flat, and she has a younger brother and younger sister.  She attended Bridgeville School where she began her basketball career in the 4th grade.  Kathryn began a basketball career there that would include Fortuna High School and College of the Redwoods.  In eleven years of organized basketball that included two years at College of the Redwoods, Kathryn missed only one day of practice, and that was because a nameless freshmen coach accidentally left her off the team roster.  Kathryn thought she had been cut from the freshmen team and missed her first day of high school basketball.

Kathryn was the leading scorer and rebounder on her freshmen team (once the nameless freshmen coach realized his blunder) and was leading her JV team in both categories when she was moved up to the varsity part-way through her sophomore year.  Kathryn was a three-year starter on the varsity where she once again led the team in scoring and rebounding.  After graduation in 1998, Kathryn attended College of the Redwoods for two years where she led the Lady Corsairs in both scoring and rebounding her sophomore year.  She is currently attending Humboldt State University where she is majoring in business administration with an emphasis in marketing.
