Head Coach Dennis Rosser

Freshman Women's Basketball

Coach Rosser graduated from Humboldt State University in 1970.  Dennis obtained his Teaching Credential from Humboldt in 1972.  He also attended Chapman University and Arizona State University.

His teaching experience includes teaching in Las Vegas, Nevada; Phoenix, Arizona; Stockton, California; Toddy Thomas School in Rohnerville; and for the last 16 years, at Cuddeback School in Carlotta.  During Coach Rosser's tenure in Carlotta, Cuddeback has earned the "California Distinguished School" and the  national "Blue Ribbon School" awards.

Coach Rosser's coaching career has been extensive in the high school and junior high school levels of football, volleyball, softball, baseball, and basketball.  His basketball coaching career began at Toddy Thomas School in 1973.  He then coached Girls Basketball at Dysart High School in Peoria, Arizona and Boys Basketball at Trevor Browne High School in Phoenix.  He coached Girls Basketball at St. Mary's High School at Stockton before finally landing at Fortuna High School.  At Fortuna High, he has coached the freshmen and junior varsity teams and has served as interim varsity coach.

Coach Rosser took a short break in his coaching career last year to take care of some matters.  During his last season as the Varsity coach, Coach Rosser's 2002-2003 varsity team posted a 13-12 record and made the North Coast Section tournament. He thought he retired after that season, but much to everyone's surprise (including his own), found himself returning to coaching to coach the freshmen team.

Coach Rosser and his wife Sandra have two children. Their son Alan attended Willamette University in Salem, Oregon and now works in the hi-tech industry in Portland. Their daughter Karen attended Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon and is a 2nd grade teacher in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Webmasters Note: I would be the first to say that Dennis Rosser is extremely knowledgeable about the game of Basketball. Who do you think the custodian was who nailed the peach basket to the balcony for Dr. Naismith. Luckily Dr. Naismith didn't follow Dennis Rosser's suggestion about sacrificing the losers. He got that from some history book he is always looking at. Dennis has been in the coaching racket for a several  years. He still refers to Dr. Naismith as "Bro". So there you have it.
Mew Webmaster Note as of 24 Aug04: Dennis is back after a short break.
