RENE' JOHNSON

SENIOR

Rene' has played basketball since she was in the 4th grade. Rene' went to Scotia Elementary School where she competed in many sports. When she arrived at Fortuna High School as a Freshman, she started the year off by playing volleyball. She ended the season by receiving "Rookie of The Year". She went through that year participating in J. V. basketball and Varsity track. As her Sophomore year started she represented her class as their Secretary. Rene' made the Varsity volleyball team as a Sophomore and continued with basketball and track. In her junior year, Rene' joined the Link Crew program, assisting with Freshman Orientation program. She feels this is important because freshman are our future. In Rene's Junior year she participated in Junior Miss, and she represented Fortuna High in the Rhododendron Festival. Rene' also continued playing basketball and track her junior year, earning the Most Improved Player for basketball. As a Senior Rene' is again helping out the Link Crew, and she played her third and final year on Fortuna High's Varsity Volleyball Team. Rene' hopes to get a scholarship in both volleyball and basketball and continue her sports career in college. This year Rene' is also Fortuna High's Student Body Treasure. From working in Link Crew and in sports she has learned to communicate with other people, be patient, listen well, and work well with other people. Besides sports Rene' enjoys many other hobbies. She enjoys skiing, both water and snow, camping, collecting dolphin items, collecting the late 60's and 70's music, and playing with her two year old brother Brice.

Rene' has taken college prep courses and some honors courses. Even with all her activities she remains on the honor roll and is currently in National Honors Society (NHS). She knows that sports aren't always going to be there, so she studies hard to keep her grades up. Rene' favorite class has been Careers With Children along with her favorite teacher Mrs. Kausen. This class has helped Rene' prepare for teaching in the future. Rene' wants to attend HSU or SOSU where she plans on studying to become an Elementary School Teacher. Rene' would enjoy teaching third or fourth grade. Rene' is employed by Round Table Pizza in Fortuna and is very thankful for the hours she is given.

Rene' was born in Fortuna and has lived in Stafford for seventeen years. Rene' enjoys living out in the redwoods. The atmosphere gives her a sense of relaxation and freedom.
