Katie was born in Fortuna and has lived here all her life. She has grown up around basketball
and horses. She started playing basketball in third grade for a parks and recreation team.
She has played every year since. Her freshman and sophomore year she played on the JV
team. As a sophomore she was awarded the "Jennifer Nunnemaker" award for JV basketball.
As a varsity player Katie hopes to expand her basketball and sportsmanship skills. Katie has
also actively participated in volleyball and High School Rodeo. She has played volleyball since
she was in the sixth grade. Her freshman year she played on the JV volleyball team. During
her sophomore and junior years she has played on the varsity team. Katie has been riding
horses since she was three years old. She has been competing in Rodeos for five years, and has
been competing in High School Rodeo since her freshman year. Her events are barrel racing,
pole bending, goat tying and break-away roping. In 9th grade she qualified for state finals
in barrel racing, and in 10th grade she qualified for state finals in pole bending. Katie hopes
to continue competing in Rodeo, riding her two horses.
Katie's school day includes five solid classes. Her favorite class is being a Teachers Assistant in the front office working for Leslie Burkhart. She also enjoys her Algebra II class, because math is her favorite subject.
Some of Katie's hobbies include basketball, volleyball, rodeo, snow skiing and camping. She really enjoys camping with her family. Katie is the daughter of Fred and Charlene Boling of Fortuna. She attended K-4th grades at South School. She attended 5th - 8th grades at Fortuna Town School.
