Amy is a senior this year and this is her second year on the varsity team. She played on the
junior varsity team her first two years at Fortuna High School. She started playing
basketball at Town School in the 7th grade. Amy likes basketball because it is a team
effort.
Amy is active in many other sports. She has participated in cross country, cheerleading, basketball and track, since she was a freshman. Her favorite sport is track. Amy runs the 100, 200, and 400. She also runs on both the 4 X 100 and 4 X 400 relay teams. She received her first "All County Star" her freshman year on the 4 X 400 relay team. Since then she has received two other HDN stars. Amy also enjoys gymnastics. She has been in gymnastics for the last 6 years. Amy is currently taking a gymnastics class at Health Sport and also works there 6 to 8 hours weekly with younger children in the gymnastics classes. Amy's track and gymnastics have helped her in basketball. Her speed and agility have helped her excel in defense.
Besides sports, Amy is very active. She is a member of CSF, NHS, Interact, CASC and Link Crew. She has also been involved in the school paper the "Husky Howler" since her sophomore year. Amy is the photographer and she really enjoys taking pictures. Outside of school Amy enjoys both water and snow skiing, hiking, rollerblading and when she has time she enjoys riding her horse. She loves to read and spends a lot of leisure time behind the covers of a good book.
Amy really enjoys school. She works very hard and plans to further her education at a four year college. She is thinking about UC Santa Cruz or San Diego. She wants to major in Marine Biology or Pre-Med.
Amy's philosophy about sports is that it doesn't always come easy, but that hard work will always pay off. Amy's parents are Mike and Vicky Giacomini. She has one brother, Zeb, and a little blondish-red cocker named Raja. She would also like to thank her grandparents, Ed & Evelyn Giacomini for all their support.
