Misty Slade

Junior

Misty has enjoyed playing sports since she was very young. When she was 7 she began playing soccer, basketball, and t-ball. Misty’s first basketball experience was in the 3rd grade when she played on a Eureka boy hoopsters team. Misty being the only girl, made her become a tomboy and she learned to fight back. Misty and her family made the big move from Eureka to Scotia in December 1994’. This is where her athletic career began. In 4th, and 5th grades Misty played hardball with the boys in Rio Dell, basketball on a Scotia recreation team and different class 111 soccer teams in Fortuna. By

6th grade Misty was already deemed most inspirational. Misty played on the JV volleyball team and the JV basketball team in 6th and 7th grades for Stanwood Murphy (Scotia) School. In 8th grade Misty went up to varsity and played all the same sports through out the year. During this time she had achieved many awards. While at the Trinity Valley tournament (8th grade), in the championship game, one minute left. Misty made a shot from half court at the buzzer to tie the game. They went into over time and they lost by 2. It was an awesome game and Misty was awarded MVP for the tournament.

 OFF TO FORTUNA HIGH SCHOOL………

Misty’s freshmen year she played freshmen basketball, her coach Jennifer Bice was very inspirational, an awesome coach and friend. Misty also played JV soccer and JV softball.

Sophomore year Misty played JV basketball, JV and varsity soccer. Both years she still found time with her busy schedule to play park and rec. softball and AAU basketball.  Misty works hard in achieving her goals in all areas of sports.

Misty is now playing her first year if varsity basketball and she is hoping for a fun and successful season.

Misty enjoys many other things, off the court and fields. She enjoys spending time with friends and hanging out talking on the phone if not on the computer downloading CDs off the Internet. Misty also loves dancing in the multi-culture with her Polynesian group and just spending time with all her cousins.

Misty would like to thank her parents for always being there and encouraging her to continue even if something went wrong. She would also like to thank all her many aunts and uncles and grandparents for all their support. But…. Most of all her sister, Kyrie and her brother, James for always being there to catch while she was pitching or to just retrieve the ball, but mainly because you two are my #1 fans.
