Amanda
has enjoyed playing sports ever since she was young. She was born in Santa Rosa
and moved to Carlotta when she was 8 years old. She started playing basketball
and volleyball at Cuddeback Elementary School. She also participated in Little
League Softball through Fortuna when she moved here. During her 8th grade year,
Amanda was selected MVP of the Crescent City Tournament and Trinity Valley
Tournament. Her freshman year she played on the Junior Varsity team for Fortuna
High. Her sophomore year she also played on the Junior Varsity and was awarded
MVP by her fellow teammates. In her junior year Amanda played on the Varsity
team.
Amanda
has also enjoyed playing volleyball and track and field. She played one year of
JV volleyball at Fortuna High. Amanda started pole-vaulting her freshmen year to
try something new. She did extremely well breaking the schools record at 9 feet
6 inches. She also was in the top five freshmen in the state. Amanda went to the
2002 Meet of Champions. Her sophomore and junior year she was the Humboldt-Del
Norte League champion.
Academically,
Amanda has maintained a 3.5 GPA since her freshman year and was awarded the
Salutatorian, President's Award, and Principle's Award at Cuddeback Elementary.
She is a member of California Scholarship Federation (CSF) and National Honors
Society (NHS). She was just recently awarded the Soroptimist Girl of the Month
for the month of December for her athletic achievements.
Amanda
would like to thank everyone who has helped her along the way, especially, her
coaches for their guidance and encouragement. She would also like to thank her
family for always supporting her and being her #1 fans. She would like to give a
shout out to all of her friends and her sister for always being there for her.
