Michelle Primofiore

Senior

Michelle was born on June 4, 1986 in Modesto, CA. When she was about two years old her family made the journey to Humboldt County where they resided in Scotia. Michelle started playing basketball through the inspiration of her brother Robert Primofiore. From the moment she touched a basketball you could tell she had a natural talent.

In 4th grade Michelle joined the Palco Recreation Peewee League basketball. This is where her basketball career began. She immediately stood out on her team and became a leader. Two years later, now in the 6th grade, Michelle had become known for her skills in basketball. While on the 6th grade Peewee league she was selected to be on the 5th and 6th grade All-Star Peewee team. At the beginning of her 6th grade year Michelle was asked to play on the JV (7th grade) basketball team at her elementary school. Their team finished off the season with many memories and a lot of wins. That year Michelle received the award "Best Shooter." This inspired Michelle to work harder on her defense. A year later Michelle was asked to play on the Varsity (8th grade) basketball team. That year her team finished 3rd in league and Michelle received the "Most Valuable Player" award. She was very happy when she got this award because now she was known for being an all-around good player and not just for her shooting ability.

The following year, now being in 8th grade, Michelle was asked to play on the Lady Eagles AAU all-star team. The team was made up of a very select few nearby Humboldt County players. By her freshman year she had become known throughout the county. Her freshman year she played on the JV team and was announced "Miss Basketball." The beginning of her sophomore year her family relocated to Modesto, CA. There she started on the Varsity basketball team for Beyer High School. During the summer between her sophomore and junior year she had a terrible accident during a basketball tournament and tore her ACL. Unfortunately, Michelle was unable to play her junior year. She never gave up though and couldn't wait until she got to play again. She went to every practice, game, meeting, and tournament that her team had.

Now Michelle has moved back to Fortuna and is on our Varsity team. She is pumped for this season and can't wait to play with her old teammates again. Some of Michelle's other interests are Volleyball and Track. She maintains a 3.4 GPA. She also enjoys reading poetry, listening to all types of music, and help coach a 4th grade peewee girls basketball team.
