Terra McCanless

SENIOR

Terra has been involved sports since second grade.  Her athletic career began with the Nally’s T-Ball team where she played for three years.  In fourth grade, however, she found basketball and her love for the game when she played in the Scotia Recreational League.  Terra played for Fortuna town School from the Fifth to the Eighth Grade, being selected team MVP every year.  During eighth grade, she was chosen as MVP of the St. Bernard’s Tournament and All Tournament at the Crescent City Tournament.  Terra also played softball during fifth and sixth grade.  She also played volleyball during seventh and eighth grades, winning MVP at the Sunnybrea Tournament.

At Fortuna High School, Terra played volleyball her freshman year and learned valuable lessons about teamwork.  She took those lessons with her to the freshman basketball team.  Terra learned that if you want to succeed, you have to want your teammates to do so too.  Terra was selected as MVP of her freshman team and played on the JV team as a sophomore year.  Last year, as a junior, Terra was the starting center on the Varsity.

Terra believes that she owes much to her parents.  They have coached and encouraged her to do the best she could under any circumstances.  Without their support and love, who knows where she’d be today.  After high school,  Terra plans to work for McCanless Excavation and go to College of the Redwoods where she intends to focus on Business Administration.   However, she is considering a two year course to become a masseuse.  She’s still undecided
