Maggie Hudler

JUNIOR

Maggie has been playing basketball since she was five years old.  She owes her love of basketball to the person who taught her, Katie Brown.  Growing up as neighbors, the two girls played constant games of basketball.  Over the years, Maggie improved her skills, coming closer to the ultimate goal of beating her rival and friend.

In fourth grade, Maggie began her career in organized basketball (the Pee Wee team at Hydesville Elementary School).  In fifth grade, Maggie moved up to the Hydesville junior varsity team, coached by Howard Scott.  Thanks to his dedicated coaching, Maggie developed the heart and respect for the game of basketball.  In sixth and seventh grade, Maggie played on the Hydesville varsity team, once again coached by Howard Scott.  During Maggie’s seventh grade year, Hydesville took the championship trophy at the Crescent City Tournament in Division A.  On an individual basis, Maggie won a Sportsmanship trophy at that tournament.  During her eighth grade year, Maggie received an All Tourney trophy.

At Fortuna High School, Maggie played on the Junior Varsity team her freshman year and received a Most Improved Player award.  Maggie played on the Varsity her sophomore year and received the coveted Jennifer Nunnemaker Award, given to the player who best embodies the spirit and attitude of the late Jennifer Nunnemaker.  Maggie is now playing her second year of Varsity basketball and hoping for a winning season.
