I love the outdoors, especially fishing and hiking.
On a hot day I like to sit under a big tree and read a good book, or drop
a line in a lake. I also love to play with my dog schatzee. She's a 95
pound Rhodesian Ridgeback. On a cold day, I like to be inside crocheting
or embroidering and watching a good nature film.
I'm a fairly good fisherman, but it doesn't show
in this photo (which is 10 years old). This fish was so dumb, it wasn't even
hooked, it was holding onto the bait. I do believe that the worst day fishing
is better than the best day at work, and of course the fastest growing thing
in nature is a fish. From the time it is caught to the time the story is told.
Even cloudy days don't seem to stop me from enjoying
the outdoors. I've been known to be out tending my flower garden on drizzling
days. I've fished in the rain, and been skiing in a blizzard. Snowball fighting
is more my style now though.
I also love to cook. I've tried my hand at catering,
and have catered as a chef to 80 people. I also worked with a team that catered
a dinner for 750 people. I especially love chocolate, and I love to share
good recipes, so if you have a good recipe e-mail me. Food is a passion!
Of my favorite cooking, baking pies, cakes and cookies are a speciality.
My grandfather was a baker, and I believe I picked up some of his passion.
The thing that matters the most to me is my faith
in Jesus, the people I love, and the youth I still have. I retired in 1997
with 9 years of service as a police officer specializing in community oriented
policing. I was forced to retire because of a spinal injury from an accident
at work. My best advice is to be careful of your back because it's the only
one you have, and once hurt it bothers you the rest of your life. But with
all this, my faith carries me through. With faith I have the courage to continue
my life, and share with others. Never give up!
