Tom Murray

Tom Murray is renowned world wide for his drumming genius, and sensational stage presentation.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Tom began playing the drums at age seven. He studied under top drum instructors including the legendary Gene Krupa, who heard him play and recognized his talent, telling Tom, “your talent is a God-given gift.” Tom subsequently took lessons from Gene Krupa, learning his music philosophy as well as drumming. From that time on, Tom has dedicated his life to the music business.

Tom became a world class drummer by the time he was 15, and at age 16, joined The Castaways, known for their #1 hit Liar Liar, and toured Canada. At age 17, based in Minneapolis, Tom joined The Litter, still known internationally as one of the great retro bands of the 60’s and 70’s. Billboard Magazine charted The Litter album Emerge as one of the top 200 albums from 1955 to 1985. Retro collectors throughout the world continue to seek Litter CD’s and albums.

Through the years, The Litter have been on many top labels including ABC,Rhino MCA, RCA, MCA UK, KTEL, ARF ARF, and EVA, (Paris). Tom and The Litter appeared in several Movies including Medium Cool and Heart of a Champion, in addition to several commercials for Breck Hairspray and Kentucky Fried Chicken. In 1969 they performed at The Playboy Mansion Christmas Party in Los Angeles, and photos from their performance were published in the 1970 Playboy Christmas issue.

Tom and The Litter Headlined & appeared with many concert groups including The Who, Led Zepplin, Santana, Jethro Tull, and Rod Stewart. Tom’s career has provided him the opportunity to jam with many of the top drummers of the era. His most memorable and enjoyable experience was the time he spent jamming with John Bonham of Zeppelin and he will always miss him.

Tom’s involvement in all aspects of music includes concert promoting with Schon productions, and he ran a very successful booking agency called All Star Talent in Minneapolis. Living in Denver, Colorado, since 1986, Tom has formed and played in several top local bands. Adding a rock element to country music, he was inducted into the Colorado Country Music Hall of Fame in 1999.

Tom is looking forward to launching the team of rock pro’s he has assembled in “The RETROROCKTS,” and is anticipating blasting the past with this seven piece group of world class musicians.
