Summer 2007
On Saturday June 2nd, my mother, daughter and myself packed up
Prairie Hawk Sir Prance-A-Lot, our three year old Sec. A Stallion...

& Carrick Bryn Auryn our two year old Sec. D Colt.
… and headed for Moses Lake Washington. On our way, we made a brief over-night stop in Albany, Oregon … staying with our dear friends .. Richard and Roberta Lumsden. They were both so kind and fed us all well with homegrown beef for dinner and delicious waffles with fresh Albany Strawberries and whipped cream for breakfast. Then Richard surprised my daughter and I with another special treat … as he hitched-up his four year old cob gelding “Loki” and took us for a drive. Wow! what a thrill! After our drive, we packed-up the boys and headed out for Moses Lake. What a haul!! The ponies traveled well and did outstanding in the show arena … This was a double Gold show.
Prance (photo by Lynette Smith Photography) placed 1st in Stallion 3-4 yr. class, Res. Champion Stallion 3-4yr under both judges while

Auryn (photo by Lynette Smith Photography) placed 1st in Colts 2 and under and took res. Champion Colt 2 and under from both judges.

Moya and Glen Petznick of Carrick Bryn Farm came over for the day to watch “Auryn” make his debut. Then Moya (photo by Lynette Smith Photography) actually had the honor of showing Auryn in his Championship class

She did a wonderful job and it looks as though she had fun too. Thank you Moya!
I have been delayed again in getting new information about Prairie Hawk Ranch posted due to some very sad news … On the evening of June 8th, my beloved Cob Mare “Glenhaven Amelia” had a severe bout with colic and passed away. Amelia will be greatly missed as she taught me so much about myself and life through Parelli. Amelia has left a hole in my heart as she will be greatly missed. She was also the inspiration for my poem “I met a horse.” Please visit her memorial page

On June 20th, my Mother, daughter and myself packed up once again to head to Albany, Oregon. Our plan was to show our colts again, but I drove “Prance” the day before and he pulled a muscle and had to be removed from travel at the last minute. We decided to pull “Glenhaven Sweet Rachael” from the pasture and bring her along in “Prance’s” place. So off we went … Again our pony and cob made us proud … scoring well on the judges scorecards both days.
On the first day, Glenhaven Sweet Rachael placed 1st in halter 3yrs + Sec. A Mares (Out of 11 mares) with one judge and placed 2nd in halter 3yrs. + Sec. A Mares (out of 11 mares) from the 2nd judge. She would go on to claim Sec. A Grand Champion under one judge.
On the second day, “Rachael” took 2nd in halter 3yrs. + Sec. A Mare (out of 12 mares) from one judge and 2nd in halter 3 + Sec. A Mare (out of 12 mares) and then went Res. Grand Champion Mare..
“Auryn” did great as well … Placing 1st in Colt 2 ands under from both judges the first day, 1st place in Sport Pony type in hand and on to claim Sport Pony Type in Hand Res. Champion …. On the 2nd day, “Auryn” took 2nd under both judges in Colt 2 and under followed by a 3rd in Sport Pony type In hand …
Keep checking in as we continue North to Eugene Oregon the second weekend in August. Talk to you soon and please feel free to visit the guest book.

Spring 2007
Spring is finally in the air...With foggy, misty mornings, sunny days and of course the BIG pony shed! Yes...we still have not seen the end of the rain but, it is beginning to get a bit warmer. We have been extremely busy with the ponies this spring..

as Rachael and Prance were just put to cart prior to the heavy winter rains hitting. Now it's time to put the miles on them...but they are loving every minute of it. In fact, when I am driving one, the other is usually standing at the gate knocking as if to say "Hey! it's my turn next". We have also started Arwen under saddle

with the help of Erin McClure and her husband Tom Moxon. A BIG thank you goes out to both of them. Auryn is also being played with daily and has even been saddled. We will most likely show him in hand this spring/summer and begin his under saddle training as a three year old. He is Sooo BIG (14.2hh as a two year old) Sooo SWEET ! Grandma has completed her infusion chemo therapy treatments and is now taking oral chemo therapy. She is able to drive and get around with the aide of her cane. She has her good days and her bad. But her BEST days are when she can enjoy watching her ponies frolic and prance in the pasture behind her house. This spring and summer we are planning on attending several shows and events depending on Grandma's health. Below is a tentative listing of shows and events we hope to attend:
April 28- Rhodie Parade - Eureka, Ca.
June 3-4 NW Classic - Moses Lake, Wa.
June ??? HBHC Horse Show/Fair - Redwood Acres - Eureka, Ca.
