Prairie Hawk Ranch was founded in 1998 by Donna and Tracie Ahlberg. A mother and daughter duo who both share an immense love for the equine species.With over 30 years experience with various breeds both Donna and Tracie have found their true passion amongst the Welsh. Concentrating primarily on the Sect A Welsh Mountain Pony, Section D Welsh Cob and the combining of the Welsh blood with other breeds to create amazing athletic half-welsh sport ponies.

All ponies, cobs and half-welsh born on Prairie Hawk Ranch are imprinted at birth and follow the Natural method of horsemanship training and handling. Ensuring a deep understanding and language between equine and human.

The following poem was written by Tracie Ahlberg and actually manifested itself in a dream while Tracie slept. When she awoke she wrote down every word as she remembered it in her dream. Oddly enough, this poem reflects much of the philosophy of Prairie Hawk Ranch. It also reminds us all to listen with more than just our ears when the horse is desperately trying to speak and to use our body rather than words to develop a language both horse and man will understand so, you may dance together as one.

Prairie Hawk Ranch is located on the beautiful North Coast of California, a stones throw from the Pacific Ocean and very close to the towering Redwood Forests.
