Utility Trailer

Two eight foot pallets, one four foot pallet.

In this picture there is a belt sander and heavy metal stand with vacuum cleaner dust collector hiding behind the RANS Rocket Recumbent.

This trailer is constructed of 1" by 2" .065 mild steel tubing and 1/4" chip board that comes on pallets of plastic. The Blue Sky hubs are very solid. The wheels are centered around Blue Sky Cycle Cart hubs which are both low tech mild steel, yet extremely strong for bothclick for larger image vertical and lateral loading. They have sealed bearings. They lived 10 years of their life on the Eco-Cycle trailer hauling heavy loads on the Humboldt State University Campus several times a week, while being stored outside in the weather during idle time. When I changed out their trailer for hydraulic discs I put the Blue Sky hubs and wheels on my trailer. I replaced the first set of bearings last week. Actually the top two pictures show some modified to be single sided drum brake hubs that I used for a little while. I put the Blue Sky hubs back on because the drum brake hub axles looked like they could fold any time.

Unfortunately Blue Sky no longer sells these hubs. But maybe they can offer a source for them.

The tires are made for those folks who don't go forward with both tires on the ground very much, trials riders. They have a checkered tread that wraps around to the bead and are rated for 130 psi which I haven't done yet. I figured they'd have good side wall life and wouldn't mind getting ran along curbs, seeing alot of sun, or generally getting abused. I'll look up the name of them and post it here.

Spoke--rusty... Rims... Aluminum.

This home made hitch has supplied years of service and handles several hundred pound loads. It is made of a small hinge and 1/2" fine thread nuts and bolts brazed together to afford three dimensional flexibility. The hitch pin is a 10 penny nail if I recall correctly. Use brass filler generously and braze the part the pin goes through so it doesn't peel open. I take no responsibility for any hitch that anyone else might construct.
