ECOTOURISM THROUGH BIRD AND NATURE FESTIVALS

LBJ Enterprises is a strong supporter of the California Nature Festival Association. We hope that by working together to promote appreciation of the outdoors, and an area's natural heritage, that many goals will be accomplished.

1) Local awareness will increase and a desire to protect existing wild areas will be developed.

2) Education and exposure to birds with other natural history will benefit schoolchildren, the public and the species themselves.

3) An economic benefit associated with eco-tourism, will encourage non-consumptive use of wildlife resources, low impact suatainable tourism activities and a finacial benefit to small businesses in satelite rural communities.

LBJ Enterprises has worked to help create the Godwit Days Spring Migration Festival in Arcata, CA, which has continued to grow for the past eleven years. We have also provided valuable input and field trip support to our sister festival in Crescent City for the Aleutian Canada Geese. From these two bases of activity we also regularly attend other festivals throughout the State and Western US with the goal of promoting birding to all folk of whatever skill level throughout the region. We have traveled with our bird books, birding gear and Optics from Eagle Optics to many such events and hope to continue to do more. The following list represents our plans for 2007, so look for the LBJ CREW at the following events. Our staff always likes to fit in some birdwatching at these great locations so look for our post-festival trips, plan to car pool with us, or sign up for some of the many trips our staff are used for at the festivals themselves.
