This spot has the complete text of Uncle Tom's Cabin. Harriet Beecher Stowe wrote the book and many think it was one of the major causes of the Civil War. I assume it is OK to download or read online since it is probably way past copyright laws. They have copyright information but the link was not working.
BIOGRAPHY OF HARRIET BEECHER STOWE
This is a biography of Harriet Beecher Stowe. From other information I have read on her, she seems to becoming recognized as a major American author. Some think she has been neglected because she is a woman and her other work was over-shadowed by her great book Uncle Tom's Cabin published in 1852. There are a few other links also.
This is an article about Harriet Beecher Stowe. It follows up what I just wrote above. It has pictures of her and where she lived. It has a few links for more information about her. It is a very readable article and explains that she may have been over-shadowed by Mark Twain.
This is another biography of Harriet Beecher Stowe. The value of this site is that it has links that take you to Frederick Douglas and Fugitive Slave Law. The Fugitive Slave Law site has lots more information, including graphics of old wanted posters for runaway slaves.
This spot has very little about Harriet Beecher Stowe (a picture and quiz questions about her). The real value of this site is that it has lots of information for girls on American women. Although it is a commercial site, it has information on women's history.
