Watercolors by Ellen Briggs

	"Our Lady of the Waters"	I have been painting since about 2000/2001. I don’t remember exactly when I started, but watercolors — although they force me to face my inadequacies and insecurities — ultimately bring me joy. Consequently, my desire is to paint expressions of joy, from a flower’s joy in blooming to a creature’s joy in being alive and connecting with others. My hope is that these depictions will act as a reminder to look for and to find joy when we need it most and perhaps feel it least. Whatever happens, there is always room for expansive joy to unfold in the heart and take our breath away.
