I had a vinyl floor installed two years ago in the kitchen.
At the time of installation I was remodelling the kitchen and had removed several layers down to narrow oak solid flooring that dates back to the construction of the house areound 1900.
The local flooring store came out and measured up the floor for the vinyl.
After the lauan underlayment and cabinets were in the flooring contractor informed me that the lauan wasn't good enough and that I need a different underlayment that they could install. But if I didn't have them put down the underlayment they would not warranty the installation.
I question how they would attach the underlayment as I had been told of problems with staples and was told that it would be stappled down and that was the way it was done.
About a year latter I noticed bumps in the flooring. I am now being told that the subfloor is at fault the island is the problem and the house is just to old.
Any advice any one can shed will be appreciated.
