I am planning to install Armstrong "Etchings" vinyl flooring in my kitchen. My installer is recommending an underlayment from Macmillan Bloedel called Fiberflor, which is a particle board based flooring underlayment. He recommends it because it is about half the cost of plywood. Has anyone heard of such a product? Is it any good? Would I be better off paying the extra price and going with plywood?
