: We are planning to install laminate floor in our kitchen, breakfast room and home office (all adjoining). We were all set to buy the Pergo Original floor and install it ourselves. When we got to Home Depot, we saw the new Pergo Presto snap-together product. The Presto sure looks a lot easier to install, but will it wear as well? Am I trading the convenience of an easier installation for the cost of having to replace it sooner?
: Any comments or experiences would be appreciated.
Neither. Glued together installations require a perfect installation without gaps. water can penetrate the skipped areas. Akaline based cleaning agents degrade the glue. Snap together means open seams and water penetration into the seams. Laminates are made of wood with a veneer surface. Wood and water do not mix well together.
Make sure the products you purchase in "snap-togther" have lasting protection on the edges.
