: I need to remove moldy brown glue under a carpet, after I remove the moldy carpet. The carpet salesman says it can't be removed since they don't make a solvent or that glue anymore. It is on top of a plywood subfloor. The brown glue smells like mold and it can be scraped up a little bit. It is the consistency of nearly hard putty.

Home Depot has an adhesive remover in there paint department. I would have to believe that Lowes and all the other "BIG BOYS" have something like it.

Good luck

PS: Why & how did it end up smelling moldy?
