: I am considering using 2x6 T&G Southern Yellow Pine flooring on the main level of a new construction without a subflooring to leave exposed as ceiling over a basement. I am worried about shrink, noise, and anything else that anyone would be worried about. Any comments? Thanks, Scott

your idea is a good one! you get a good looking ceiling and a nice wood floor in one! there may be shrinkage and maybe a nail sqeak or two but that about it, pine is a very soft wood for flooring so use a good floor finish and expect a few dents and dings.
