The people I work for had new berber carpet installed about 1.5 years ago, then they decided to do a big remodel and this beautiful carpet from their very large living room was offered to me. I took it. Now I would like to have it installed. Not knowing where it came from, I simple stopped at two of the local stores, they suggested 1/2" 8 lb. rebond. When I ask if there isn't a special pad for berber, they have said that is what they use. From what I gather surfing the web it has been discovered that rebond is no longer an acceptable padding for berber. (The chemicals used in making the padding tend to turn berbers and comercial type carpets yellow.) This is a probably between 40-50 oz. carpet with a small to medium loop. They say you only need "berber pad" for large loop berber, ...So if not rebond, and not berber pad, what pad should I use with this carpet?
