: Concrete bleeds moisture! It will for years. There are multilayered products that offer both a foam for surface irregularities and polyethylene for a moisture barrier. There are also acoustic underlay's of sponge rubber and other material for sound control. The best bet, especially in Florida and a few other areas is a 6mil polyethylene followed with a foam underlay or a 2 in 1 crosslinking synthetic (plastic) underlay.

: : First off, thanks for all the input everyone. We have narrowed our choice down to the Witex Loctec or Quickstep 800. My question is regarding the underlayment. We are having our laminate proffesionally installed(I know that makes you happy) but our installer told us that we must have both the padding and the waterproof underlayment. Apparently you can put these down individually or there is a combo product? We are building this house(Orlando) new and our flooring will be on concrete. My question is why would we need to put waterproof underlayment on a new floor? My friend just had her house done with the Quickstep but only had padding installed----is the waterproof really needed or is this one of those rustproof deals that car salesman use on buying new cars? Thanks again.

Thanks AzFred, for the information regarding the concrete. However the rest of what you said is I'm afraid to say Greek to me. Are you saying that there is a product(s) provided by Witex and Quick-Step that is what I need to maintain my warranty(I've seen that some product lines require their underlayment to keep the warranty) or are the products you referred to by another company but still an option to use on Witex or Quick-Step that won't hurt my warranty? Sorry, I must seem like an idiot but I just want to make sure. Thanks,
Margaret
