Around The brick fireplace hearths, I have started using end cap molding with good results. Before I had undercut it and created a lot of dust. Stone and rock still need to be undercut or caulked with colored or colored sanded tile caulk.
The profile, looking down the end of and end cap looks like an upside down L. The profile of a "T" molding looks like a T when looking from the end.
