The only product I can imagine that you might be able to afford is Vinyl Composition Tile. It is durable, however it does require more upkeep than other more costly alternatives. And, if you select a solid color tile the upkeep will be that much more; there is nothing to hide soil and scratches on such a floor.
If you choose VCT, then clean and polish it as the manufacturer recommends. Armstrong Shinekeeper is an excellent acrylic floor dressing. Several "thin" coats of the product ought to make your floor livable.
