: We are presently finishing the 1,000 sq ft basement of our house that was built in 1978. We bought the house last November. Would appreciate advice regarding the recommended type of flooring for a basement with a very high water table with windows that are level with the ground outside - hence there is a lot of dampness. Some family members have allergies so we want to avoid mustiness. We also want the floor to be as cost effective as possible. The house is a bungalow with baseboard electric heating. We intend on adding vents to the main level to increase air circulation. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Moisture vapor emissions are going to be anything glued down worst enemy!
Even painting the floor may fail.
Double moisture barriers and a floating wood or laminate may work but if the moisture levels are real high, it might not.
