Expansion/movement joint confusion

My subfloor consists of t/g plywood 16 on center. I added another layer of plywood exterior grade for strengh.I understand to leave a gap around all walls etc of aprox 1/4. The area is 600 feet of joining rooms.I will be adding a backerboard before tile. My questions are regarding expansion/movement joints:
1)Are expansion joints and movement joints the same thing? I am wondering if joints are needed in the center of large areas? If so, I would asume that would be a movement joint. How do I go about adding them? Is it just a place were I add caulking instead of grout?

2)How many layers do they need to be down and how wide?

3)Also left about 1/8 gap between all the exterior plywood seams. Do I fill these with caulking before I glue the backer board down?

Looking forward to your replies, as I have browsed but ended up confused.

Thanks, John
