| After many years in the trade I became weary and longed for something to excite my imagination. I set sail in a small boat, keeping my eyes firmly trained toward the horizon. Several days out I was surprised to find a shallow area a short distance from land with a firm base several meters below the surface of the water. I decided to construct a dwelling here and spent some time in thought. Drawing from my bag of tools and supplies, I began by pulling the points of a sphere to create large boulders. Using magnetism and drag points, I created four large boulders. I then textured them with a grayscale granite tif as an altitude for the pits and cracks, Imagines concrete texture and a little of Imagines dirt texture. When they were set I created a pier and steps leading up to the top of one of the boulders. Two wood pics were mapped to the planks and boards. One grayscale for altitude texture and one 24bit for color. A narrow footbridge made of the same materials allowed me to make my way to one of the lower boulders. Rope was constructed by extruding and spinning a disk primitive with the axis rotated so the Y-axis extended through an edge. Numbers of rotations depended on the rope length. Once on the lower left rock I constructed a simple ladder that allowed me to reach the upper right boulder. Fortunately I had packed all I needed for constructing anything I needed. From this high point I realized I needed a warning beacon to protect my abode from wandering craft. Female figures were created and posed with one of my tools and brought into my world as DXF files. Arranged in a circle they supported a brazier with a batik fabric altitude map for texture. A gold color was applied to the brazier and the supporting figures. A flame texture was applied to a primitive plane and arranged to provide a visible warning to all around. Coals were formed from small stones. A Zooloo texture was applied so the reflective portion would mirror the gold bier and give off a warm glow. With my beacon firmly in planted I retired to plan a living place. A double walled tube provided the basis for a small living space. A window was sliced from the wall and small flat stones with a concrete texture were arranged around the opening. A stone map was applied to the tower as a gray scale for the cracks and color for appearance. A wooden platform was placed on beams and upon this I erected a roof supported on wooden posts. The roof was a modified cone with a shingle map applied in a cylindrical manner. A power supply was needed and, as my only source of energy was wind, I decided to construct a windmill. Gears were formed from extruded disks, and the teeth edges made sharp. A generator was created from several tori (toruses ?). Grouped and textured they allowed me to power my small home from the wind currents that constantly blew around the rocks. The vanes were constructed from simple planes and extruded disks. Leather texture with dirt was applied. Several vanes ripped in the fierce winds but since all seemed to work, they were left alone. Their movement powered the generator with little problem. I finally added mementos from earlier days (a ships wheel and a telescope) and settled down for a rest. ************************** The background sky and mountains were constructed with KPT Bryce. The scene was rendered completely in WinImagine. A little touch up with Photoshop cleared up some objectionable edges around the mist objects in the sea.
