LaVerne Larson was born in Bayside in 1907, lived there until about 1921, moved to Arcata then Fickle Hill in 1922. She graduated from Humboldt Normal School. Her first teaching job was in a one room school in Salyer. She left there to teach second grade in Arcata Grammar School until that school closed. She then moved to Sunset School, teaching there until she retired in 1963.
