PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Currently, Project Manager for International Rescue Committee, Hargeisa, Somaliland. Responsible for agricultural extension programs and administration for refuge relief and resettlement operations. Focuses includes reestablishing farmland and animal husbandry in arid in semiarid lands after five years of war. Previously, Project Coordinator for Heifer Project International, Arkansas. Designed, built and maintained appropriate technology demonstrations for internationally recognized development agency and educational farm. Projects directed include a composting latrine and biogas production. He also setup and maintained a small community gravity fed water system with a slow sand filter in Freshwater California. Also built an on-site sanitation system to serve the residents and maintained a constructed wetland. Also helped developed a computer program named >WAWTTAR=. This work was in conjunction with the HSU engineering department in the conception and development of a database of on-site waste treatment systems for the WAWTTAR (Water And Wastewater Treatment Trains Appropriate for Reuse) computer program. Research of this program was field tested in Belize, Honduras, and Cambodia. Community Organizer for the United States Peace Corps, Republic of Kenya . Worked in community development with a concentration in Agro-forestry and Fuel Conservation.

Assisted local self-help groups in proposal writing and project management to establish tree nurseries, access agro-forestry technical expertise, fund and build water catchment systems, and construct no-cost mud stoves designed for fuel conservation.

EDUCATION - Master's of Environmental Systems - International Development

Technology - Humboldt State University, California. Bachelor of Science in Biology, and Bachelor of Arts in Cultural Anthropology - Cornell College, Iowa.

LANGUAGE SKILLS -English and received a 3.5 F.S.I. proficiency rating in Kiswahili language.
