When a jeweler builds a house, watch out!!
Betsy Roberts has been intimately involved with all phases of residential and commercial construction since 1990. But when the project was her own house, suddenly the intimate details became glaringly apparent.
The contractor just happened to be her husband, David Meserve, so he listened when she said, "There just isnt anything decent on the market for lighting." It was that metalsmiths eye, trained to notice the fine details, which just would not be satisfied with the commercial fixtures at the Mega-Low-Mart Builders Supply. Thus the field of illuminated sculpture was born.
Using the skills of fine metalsmithing, and an attention to detail, artisanship and aesthetics, Betsy has created a line of contemporary wall sconces, available on a custom order basis only, in a variety of patinas and sizes.
But the artist in her just cant rest there, the notion of light as another element in the palette was just too fascinating, so she has also been making a variety of one of a kind pieces, with emotive import, and unique materials. Some of these works of art are wall or ceiling fixtures, and some use candles to intimately light an icon or image.
More pieces are always in the works, and Betsy finds true joy in working with real people to create commissioned works. Whether the need is for the ambient glow of a wall sconce, task lighting from a functional piece of art, or illumination from contemplating an image of power, Betsys Cornucopia of Light will bear fruit for you.
