OS X(10) Setup Instructions

To configure your Macintosh computer with OSX (or OS 10) to connect to Humboldt Internet you will first need to go to the Apple Menu and click on System Preferences.

In the System Preferences window you will want to click on Network.

This will open up the network window, on the TCP/IP tab.  Configure the TCP/IP page as follows:

Your screen should now look like the example below:

Now click on the PPP tab.  Fill out the PPP page as follows:

Now click on the PPP Options button and configure that screen like the following example (then click the OK button).

(note: you can put a check in the top check box if you would like the computer to dial automatically when you open a browser or email program.)

Next, you will want to make sure nothing is checked in the Proxies page (see picture to the left, below) (i.e. the proxies page should be completely blank).  Then click on the Modem tab and make sure that page is configured like the example below (the modem line should match the modem you have in your computer) (see picture to the right, below).

Finally, click on the Save or Apply Now button (depending upon the version you are using) in the bottom right corner to apply these changes.

At this point you should be ready to connect to the Internet.  To connect, simply click on the telephone icon on the menu bar at the top and select Connect out of the list.  Once you are connected, open a browser to surf the web, or open an email program to check your email (once the email program has been configured to check your email account).
