System Requirements for Humboldt Internet

Naturally, the first thing you'll require is a computer with a modem. If you're not sure if you have a modem or what speed your modem is, or if you're not sure how to properly install your modem, call a service technician or a friend to help you. You will need either a Macintosh computer or a PC running Windows 3.1 or Windows 95/98/ME/XP/2000/NT. You'll also need at least 4 megs of RAM and 6 megs of hard disk space, but more RAM and hard disk space make life easier. The rest of this document will outline the software you will need to connect with our service.

If you use Windows 95/98/ME/XP/200/NT, you should be ready to go. These versions of Windows have an Internet dialer (called Dial-Up Networking) that will connect you to our service.

If you use Windows 3.1, you will need some software to dial and to connect with our service. This software is called a winsock or an Internet dialer. You have a few options for getting a winsock:

If you use a Macintosh, you'll need Macintosh OS System 7.
