If you use Windows 95/98/ME/XP/200/NT, you should be ready to go. These versions of Windows have an Internet dialer (called Dial-Up Networking) that will connect you to our service.

If you use Windows 3.1, you will need some software to dial and to connect with our service. This software is called a winsock or an Internet dialer. You have a few options for getting a winsock:

• You can upgrade to Windows 95 or higher. These versions of Windows have a winsock built into them.
• You can purchase Netscape Navigator Personal Edition from virtually any software store. (They also have it at Costco!) Be sure to get the Personal Edition version of Netscape, because that's the version that has its own winsock. You'll also get Netscape on floppy disks for easy installation, and you'll get technical support for Netscape, which is a nice thing to have. Netscape Personal Edition runs about $40 and is available at most software stores.
• In the same vein as Netscape Navigator is the Internet Explorer Starter Kit. This gets you Microsoft's Internet Explorer web browser as well as technical support. The IESK runs $25 and is available at most software stores.
• We can provide you with a winsock called Trumpet Winsock. Trumpet Winsock isn't free, but it will work for free for the first thirty (30) days. After that, it will expire and will only work if you register it. To register your copy of Trumpet Winsock, you'll have to send $25 to the author of the software. Trumpet Software is in Australia, so registration and technical support could be a bit variable.
• Our new setup CD is in beta testing and it includes a winsock. If you're interested in trying out our new setup CD under Windows 3.1, please call us.

If you use a Macintosh, you'll need Macintosh OS System 7.

• If you have System 7.5.1 or 7.5.3, you'll have a Control Panel named either MacTCP or TCP/IP. Check to make sure you have either of these Control Panels and we'll be able to provide you with additional software (a dialer called ConfigPPP) to get you going.
• If you have System 7.6, you probably have the Internet Connection Kit already installed on your computer. Check your computer to see if you have the Connection Kit. If you do have the Connection Kit installed, please let us know so we can give you the proper instructions.
• If you have System 8 or later, or if you have an iMac, you should have an Internet Setup Assistant. If so, then you have what you need to connect to our service. If not, then you'll have to install the Internet Setup Assistant from your MacOS CD first.
• If you have System 7.0 or 7.1, you will need some additional software before you can connect to our service:
  • The MacTCP Control Panel is available as part of the Internet Starter Kit, by Adam Engst. The Internet Starter Kit is available through most bookstores. If you don't have a CD-ROM drive, be sure to ask for the floppy disk version of the Internet Starter Kit.
  • You could upgrade your operating system to System 7.5.1, 7.5.3, or 7.6
  • You can purchase the Internet Connection Kit, by Apple. The Internet Connection Kit has everything you need to get connected with our service and is available through virtually any software store.
