These instructions will guide you through removing the software utilities installed for SBC DSL that are no longer needed to connect with Humboldt Internet DSL. We have so far not found that they interfere with your DSL connection, but it is nice to get old or unused programs off of your computer.
CAUTION: This is for experienced people who feel comfortable in their knowledge of removing programs from their computer. Humboldt Internet does not provide support beyond these instructions. If you would like further assistance in removing these programs, we do have consulting available at an hourly rate - or there is always the helpful neighbor at the "by the slice" rate.
If the wrong program gets removed, it is possible to severely compromise your computer, so please take care. Humboldt Internet is not resposible for any harm that may come to your computer by following the steps below.
First, open up Add/Remove Programs by going into your Control Panel on your Start Menu.
Now, remove any/all of the following programs:
- SBC Yahoo! DSL Utilities
- SBC Yahoo! Dial (remove only)
- SBC Yahoo! DSL
- SBC Connection Manager (This step should also uninstall the
BroadJump CorrectConnect Engine. Give it a bit then hit F5 to refresh this
window to ensure it goes away.)
- Enternet 300
You may choose to remove any programs that say SBC or Yahoo!, however that can remove commonly desireable programs, such as messenger.
If you are changing over from SBC, you will most likely need to make a few changes to your modem settings. Please review the DSL setup tutorial included with your modem, which you may also find HERE.
