  1. Once you have clicked on Create a New Connection you will be asked to enter some basic information.
    1. When asked to type a name for this connection (or the computer you are dialing) you can use something like “Long Distance” or Humboldt Internet – Traveling”
    2. When entering information in the phone number field we will be using the numbers found on your pre-paid phone card.

                                                              i.      It is very important that you include commas in the number...one comma represents a 2 second wait.  If you find that your computer is dialing too fast or too slow and isn’t coordinating with what the operator is asking for then you made to adjust the number of commas in the dial-up number.  Adding commas will create a longer pause between when the computer enters information and subtracting commas will shorten the pause. ***

ii.      Please note that "pin" is the 10 digit pin number on the back of your calling card and the 1-800 number differs from card to card and will be found on the back of the calling card as well

For an MCI calling card use:  18003250604,,,,,,1,,pin,,,,1,7078228825,,,

For a Sprint calling card use:  18005972421,,,,,1,,pin,,,,1,7078228825,,,

***(the 1-800 number on your card may be different so please

double-check this when entering this information)

c.       If you will be staying at a hotel and dialing up from their phones you may need to enter a 9, (include the comma) in front of the phone number in order to access an outside line.  You can verify with the hotel personnel whether or not this is needed.

***Please note that shortening these numbers may cause problems in making the connection.  When testing this at the office we could connect 75% of the time with this abbreviated number.

If you have any question or problems while setting up your calling card just give us a call here at the office, 825-4638, and we’d be happy to help.
