Suspicion of Gilt

March 8-10, 2002

Return with us to the days of flappers and speakeasies. It's March, 1923, and famed archaeologist Carter Shapely is poised to open the burial chamber of the boy king, Tutankhamun.

They called it the Age of Opulence. Follies, vanities and scandals were commonplace, high society hungered for novelty, and there was one true obsession: the treasures of Ancient Egypt. Unscrupulous collectors will stop at nothing to possess a golden antiquity…but there's a SUSPICION OF GILT.
