Humboldt Internet Accelerator Basics

Using Humboldt Internet Accelerator Taskbar Menu

Click the Humboldt Internet Accelerator icon to display its taskbar menu. This menu allows you access to several useful items including diagnostics and the Humboldt Internet Accelerator controls, which you may modify.

The Humboldt Internet Accelerator can display several states or activities. These states are represented by icons in the Windows taskbar area near the system clock. The icons animate when they indicate activity.

Quick Tour

The Quick Tour option runs a two-minute web-based tutorial that explains:

  • How acceleration works
  • What content is accelerated and what is not
  • How to use the Humboldt Internet Accelerator menu
  • How to measure your acceleration

The Quick Tour is available from the taskbar icon menu. To access this menu, click on the icon in the taskbar.

Help

The Help menu option launches local help. Humboldt Internet Accelerator Help contains:

  • System requirements
  • Internet access troubleshooting tips
  • Special configuration information for Netscape and other browsers that require adjustments to the proxy settings to use Humboldt Internet Accelerator

Help is available from the taskbar icon menu. To access this menu click on the icon in the taskbar.

Installation

Starting and Restarting Humboldt Internet Accelerator

Humboldt Internet Accelerator is designed to be available at all times. A small icon appears in the Windows taskbar area near the clock when Humboldt Internet Accelerator is running. If Humboldt Internet Accelerator is not already running, you can start the program from the Windows Start menu.
